Last Week of Elementary School

Scott had a busy last week of sixth grade. Parties, school programs, activities, graduation day...

Brad and I went to see Scott perform in the sixth grade program on June 1st.

Scott does not like to sing or dance, but we watched him do both in the program.

He hardly smiled at all on stage (which is totally like him), but there's no denying he looked very handsome up there.

6th Grade Graduation Day was held on June 4th at Scott's school. Scott won five awards during the ceremony. It was neat watching him accept one award and then sit down only to be called up again a few seconds later. He's such a smart boy. We are so proud of him.

We love you, Scott!

The Highlight of My Day: May 2010

Something good happens each day. Here's what happened in May:

Sat 5/1/10: It's May, it's May, the lusty month of May! Which reminds me, I had a great morning with my hubby today. He is absolutely wonderful!

Sun 5/2/10: We had dinner with the Bruce Clan tonight. Loralee, as usual, made a fantastic dinner: Irish Stew and soda bread. We topped it off with ice cream sundaes for dessert.

Mon 5/3/10: We made Mother's Day cards for grandmas tonight. We also had a ballet for kitty names. The winners are Sushi, Gigi, and Kiki.

Tue 5/4/10: I went to the Young Women activity tonight. Sister Lignell was there with our baby kitten. I had fun petting our kitty and holding her. We also made Mother's Day presents while we were there and I made myself a flower arrangement. Pretty!

Wed 5/5/10: I arranged things with Rachel today! We are going to be staying at their condo while we're visiting California in June! Yay!

Thu 5/6/10: Emma went to see her therapist today. She was so happy afterward it was contagious. :) I love my sweet Emma-girl.

Fri 5/7/10: Lizzy and I went to Brad's volleyball tournament tonight and they won again! Lizzy loved watching the players hit the balls. I hope she'll be a volleyball player like her dad when she gets older. She definitely has the genes for it.

Sat 5/8/10: Today was a good day! Brad and I had a great time going to the park with Lizzy and spending time at home just the three of us. My best news of the day: RACHEL IS PREGNANT!!!! YAY!!!

Sun 5/9/10: Today was my first Mother's Day with Lizzy. Brad made me a delicious breakfast in bed and also helped Lizzy make hand-prints. I got to see the mess Lizzy made with the white paint. It was quite hilarious!

Mon 5/10/10: Scott and Emma came home today and we had a Mother's Day FHE with them. Brad gave me a lovely Mother's Day card and Emma gave me coupons.

Tue 5/11/10: I made homemade chili tonight-- a special request by Emma. She loves my chili.

Wed 5/12/10: I was very productive today! My two biggest projects were grooming the dog and weeding the front flower beds.

Thu 5/13/10: Finished grooming the dog today! She looks like she lost 40 pounds. Skinny girl!

Fri 5/14/10: I saw Lizzy do imaginary play for the first time today. She was pretending to eat food out of my diaper bag. She reached inside the bag, pulled it out quickly, sent her hand toward her mouth, then started chewing and smacking her lips. She repeated this over and over again. So cute!

Sat 5/15/10: I love third weekends! Brad and I enjoyed not having to drive anywhere today. Plus, it was nice having Scott and Emma have sleepovers with their friends last night.

Sun 5/16/10: Today I'm officially going to say that Lizzy can stand by herself. She's been practicing for weeks, but today she nearly mastered it, standing for more than 10 seconds. She was very pleased with herself.

Mon 5/17/10: I enjoyed some freedom this morning and left Lizzy with Brad so I could go do some shopping alone. It was refreshing not having to lug the baby around.

Tue 5/18/10: My highlight of the day was watching Lizzy play ball with her sick Papa. She LOVES her papa!

Wed 5/19/10: Brad and I took Lizzy outside to play in the yard this evening. She had a great time crawling on the grass and playing with her papa. I took lots of cute pictures of her.

Thu 5/20/10: My sister, Rachel called me today and we talked almost an hour. I LOVE talking to my little sister!

Fri 5/21/10: Brad and I watched "Ponyo" together tonight. What a cute movie!

Sat 5/22/10: We bought kitty supplies today! Our little kitty will be coming home to us in just a few days.

Sun 5/23/10: My highlight of the day was watching Scott, Emma, and Lizzy play together. Scott and Emma were bouncing across the floor, and Lizzy was crawling behind them laughing. It was so cute!

Mon 5/24/10: It snowed this morning. Big surprise! I had fun singing Christmas songs and taunting Scott and Emma. Only three words from "Let it Snow" came out of my mouth before both kids started simultaneously screaming "NO NO NO!" I'm afraid their protests only encouraged me to sing more. You would think they would know me better after five years! I'm so bad.

Tue 5/25/10: Lizzy has been waving her hand and saying "Bye-bye" all day today. She is so pleased with her new trick.

Wed 5/26/10: I went to Emma's class program today and watched her do a hula dance and play the part of a Nanny Goat during her class production of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. She did a very good job.

Thu 5/27/10: I watched Opal Dream tonight with Emma. I didn't know anything about opal mining before watching this movie. Interesting and unique.

Fri 5/28/10: Scott and Emma didn't have school today and Brad only had to work half a day. In the afternoon we drove over to the University of Utah for David's retirement party.

Sat 5/29/10: Brad got new tires on the van this morning! YAY!

Sun 5/30/10: We had a family gathering tonight to celebrate Brad's and David's birthdays. We played Catch Phrase together as a family. 'Twas fun!

Mon 5/31/10: Today we had a Memorial Day picnic at Wheeler Farm with Bruce & Loralee's family. David came with us, too, and brought his Bocce Ball set. Lizzy loved looking at the pigs, cows, and horses the best. She also had fun crawling all over the lawn and watching the gulls and ducks.

Memorial Day at Wheeler Farm

The best way to celebrate Memorial Day weekend is with family!
This year we had a Memorial Day picnic at Wheeler Farm with Bruce & Loralee's family and Grandpa North.

Jessica, Rachel, and Kaylie spent the night at our house Sunday night while Scott got to sleep over with his boy cousins. There were a lot of giggles in the back seat of the van as we headed over to Wheeler Farm.

As soon as I plopped Lizzy down on the green lawn she took off at full speed! She apparently had places to go that I was not aware of.

Lizzy loved seeing the variety of fowl near our picnic table. She had a great time waving at them.

Lizzy was also entertained by Grandpa and Papa throwing the football back and forth at each other. When Grandpa let her hold the ball she wouldn't give it back.

'There's no way I'm keeping this thing on my head, Mama!'

Big sisters and cousins are the best!

Watermelon, homemade potato salad, chips, drinks, Loralee's shredded pork, homemade rolls, peanut butter for picky eaters... YUMMY!!!

After lunch we headed over to the farm to look at the animals.

I think it was all agreed that although male turkeys have pretty iridescent feathers they also have the ugliest faces of all the farm animals.

Lizzy absolutely LOVED the piglets! At first she seemed uninterested in all the previous farm animals, but when she saw the pigs she sat up in her stroller and starting talking and waving her hands at the pigs. She wanted a better look at them. I'm sure she would have crawled right up to them if given the chance.

The horses were a big hit. All the girls wanted to pet the horses, including Lizzy.

Lizzy called the cows 'dog.' She wanted to touch them, but they were too far away.

The girls had a wonderful time playing in the tree house. I think that may have been their favorite spot at Wheeler Farm.

While the girls were looking at farm animals the boys stayed behind and played Bocce Ball.

Hooray for FAMILY!
